Okay, guys, I ate. I am now full and ready to debate about the character of Enjolras.
Or, what I might like more, the character of Gabe Goodman.
Whichever you prefer. :]
Is Brick!Enjolras as much of a demagogue as musical!Enjolras?
I don’t know. He does kill people, pretty much in cold blood. But he doesn’t seem to be the one who whips the people into a fervor, which is what he comes across as doing in the movie, at least. And he doesn’t seem to make much of an effort to entangle his followers in his plans; they’re just…drawn to him. Maybe that’s just how charisma works. But I think the general feeling of the character is different between the original and this adaptation, although both are sufficiently complex to make your reimagining at least arguably IC.
What do you think? And if you do think of them as being appreciably different, which Enjolras is your prototype?
